Bama is 1-1 on Moral Wins

First week, Alabama wins on the scoreboard, but feels a moral loss. Second week, Alabama loses on the scoreboard, yet feels a moral victory. You have to respect a team that had no chance given to them by a soul, putting up 27 points on the best D in the land, and holding their offense scoreless wile the offense took the lead. We had the game won! Yet we endure another heartbreaking loss.

The road back to greatness is filled with frustrating games, calls, plays, outcomes. This is a reality we must accept. There will be more of these to follow, but the good news is, not many more. This team gained significant confidence in itself this week, and it will show as time progresses.

A loss is never a good thing. A loss of a game we had in the bag, is torturous. We're getting closer every day. Saturday, we were two plays and one officials call away from being 2-0 with a substantial win over the #2 team in the nation! We controlled the line much of the game, and we beat their "speed". We took chances. We caught them off-guard as many times as possible. Special teams fared better than many expected, and played a big role in the momentum shift in the game. We won the penalty battle, cutting our number of penalties in half, though the timing of Bama's penalties killed us.

We must have the worst 2:00 Defense in the nation! If I were a weaker opponent, and I wanted to beat Alabama, I would simply attempt to keep the score close until the last 2:00. Alabama's defense is like wet toilet paper in the final minutes. The funk has begun to perpetuate itself on the close of the half as well. Once again, we are dominating and in control, and seemingly let the opponent go at 1:54 in the second quarter! The team needs to realize, it simply doesn't matter what you've done the previous 28:00 of the half, it has everything to do with those last 2! Particularly, in the SECOND half!

Player of the Week was Sam Collins. The guy gave it all on Saturday, and made few mistakes. A close second would have to be Lane Bearden, the fake FG to score was perfectly executed, and Bearden knew he was going into that endzone!

Elsewhere...

Kentucky pretended the football was a basketball and beat the crap out of UTEP, 77-17. Florida got whupped by the Canes, 41-16. The Barn blanks Western Carolina, 56-0. Nothing real special happened, no upsets.

The Last Word...

On Neil Vickers comments suggesting a racial overtone in CDF's comments about hanging players at sunrise for getting penalties:

We can't change the history of Alabama, nor can we change the minds of racial bigots on AM talk shows. Vickers wanted to make an issue out of something which was never an issue with anyone involved, and was used in the context of a joke. The more he, and others of his ilk, propagate lies and rumors for the purpose of doing personal damage to the credibility of this coach, the more I am convinced, we have the best coach possible!

On Tennessee obsession with Alabama:

It's over on Oct. 26th! Get your shots in now, because Alabama will silence you then, and hopefully for a long time to come. You should stop worrying about Bama and look over your shoulder at what lies ahead for your program. The NCAA is nothing to take lightly! After all, they do have a shotgun!

On Carl Torbush Defense:

Torbush needs to get with it. I know all the "excuses" and "reasons" as to why our defense has given up more points in 14 games than Bryant gave up in a decade! At Alabama, a "good" defense is one which gives up a touchdown per game or so. Not 34-40 points. That doesn't work at Alabama, so fix it! Yesterday!
