Franchione
was born in Girard, Kansas in 1951.
He earned his bachelor's degree from Pittsburg State
in 1973 where he was an outstanding baseball player.
He and his wife, Kim, have two children, Ashley, and
Libby. Franchione also has a son, Brad, who serves as
the defensive line coach at East Central University.

Alabama in 1984. He graduated from the University of
Texas where he served as a graduate assistant from 81-83.
Torbush
is the former Head Coach for the North Carolina Tarheels.
He presided over the top-ranked defense in the nation
at North Carolina from 1995-97 and also guided Ole Miss
to #1in total defense in 1986. He is a native of East
Spencer, N.C.

The native of Monroe, La., played at Grambling State
for the legendary Eddie Robinson. He was drafted in
the eighth round by the Buffalo Bills and played one
season with the Birmingham Stallions

SECONDARY
At
North Carolina, defensive backs coach Ron Case was credited
with bringing an aggressive , man-to-man coverage scheme
to the Tar Heel secondary.
Carolina's
consecutive Top 10 national finishes in 1996 and 1997 were
led by its stifling defensive unit, one that finished second
in the nation in total defense in each of those years.
Case's secondary unit played
a large role in that success and his teams led their respective
conferences in pass efficiency defense for three consecutive
seasons from 1995-97 (including one season at LSU). Under
Case's tutelage, cornerback Dre' Bly became the most decorated
football player in UNC history and among the most honored
players in ACC annals. Bly, a second-round pick in the 1999
NFL Draft by the St. Louis Rams and a key player during
the Rams' drive to the Super Bowl in 1999. Case came to
Carolina from LSU, where the Tigers were first in the Southeastern
Conference in pass defense in 1995. He spent six years at
both Vanderbilt and Ole Miss and coached UNC defensive coordinator
Carl Torbush at Carson-Newman. He spent 13 years in the
U.S. Marines after high school and played 11 years of football
in the Corps. In 1969, while an undergraduate, he was the
defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Carson-Newman.
In 1977, he coached defensive backs at West Texas State.

MARK
TOMMERDAHL TIGHT ENDS/SPECIAL TEAMS Tommerdahl is a graduate of
Concordia College. In his 15th season in the collegiate coaching
ranks, Tommerdahl (pronounced TOM-er-dawl) is in charge of
TCU's tight ends. Tommerdahl's NCAA Division I-A coaching
experience began in Wyoming in 1984 where he spent 11 years
on the staff, beginning as a graduate assistant. After serving
as the Cowboys recruiting coordinator in 1986, Tommerdahl
added tight end responsibilities to his duties there in 1987-89,
spent one season (1990) as the offensive coordinator and tight
ends coach, then four more (1991-94) as the offensive backfield
coach. The Cowboys were Western Athletic Conference champions
in 1987 and '88. From Wyoming, Tommerdahl joined the Minnesota
coaching staff and coached tight ends, special teams and served
as recruiting coordinator from 1995-96. He joined Franchione's
staff at New Mexico in 1997. Tommerdahl coached tight ends
and special teams at TCU and became the seventh coach to follow
Franchione.

Eggen is a graduate of Moorhead (Minn.)
State. After one highly-successful year at New Mexico, Eggen
(EGG-un) was named the defensive line coach at TCU last January.
Eggen has been instrumental in molding TCU's defensive front
into one of the finest in the Western Athletic Conference.
Prior to coming to TCU, Eggen coached at New Mexico under
head coach Dennis Franchione during UNM's 1997 season. Before
that, Eggen spent three campaigns (1994-96) as the defensive
coordinator and inside linebackers coach at UNLV.

as a deep defenders' coach during his nine-year (1983-91)
coaching stint with his alma mater - the University of Tulsa.
In his second stint with the TCU football staff, the sharply-focused
Thurmond returned to the Horned Frog program after serving
two seasons as the secondary coach at the University of Oklahoma.
Thurmond, who had been secondary coach for the Frogs in 1995,
currently is tutoring TCU's cornerbacks.

State's head strength coach from 1989 to 1998 before Franchione
hired him. "It's any strength and conditioning coach's dream
to coach at Alabama," said Pollard, a 1984 Texas Tech graduate,
"just like it's any head coach's dream." Pollard's wife, the
former Leslie Willis, was born in Birmingham and her family
lives in Montgomery. He is a graduate of Texas Tech University.

CHARLEY NORTH DIRECTOR of FOOTBALL OPERATIONS
North is a graduate of Panhandle (Okla.)
State. The veteran of the current TCU football staff is this
pleasant Oklahoma native who joined the Horned Frog fold in
March. North offers 19 years of experience on the collegiate
level and a total of 31 years in coaching the sport. Prior
to TCU, North had spent the previous three seasons (1995-97)
as the offensive line coach at Arkansas, the same capacity
he had served for 16 campaigns (1979-94) with the University
of Oklahoma. As TCU's Director of Football Operations, North's
broad range of responsibilities include office management
and administration; game day responsibilities; liaison with
various athletic and university departments; team travel;
and recruiting visitations.
